Our work in 2025 was a vivid reminder that when we connect researchers to high-leverage problems, the right collaborators, and funding resources, they respond with creativity and rigor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Homeworld exists to nurture the growth of climate biotech by connecting practitioners to the highest-leverage problems, the right collaborators, and the research support needed to translate ideas into progress. Here\u2019s a snapshot of what we\u2019ve built together and the impact it\u2019s had.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-reaching-our-community\">Reaching Our Community<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sharing the pulse of the field: <strong>22 newsletter issues<\/strong> &#8211; 5 in 2025 &#8211; to <strong>1,325 practitioner subscribers<\/strong> (65% open rate, 10% YoY growth)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Increased visibility and engagement: <strong>42,000 all-time website visitors<\/strong> (47% annual growth), and <strong>#1 Google result for \u201cClimate Biotech\u201d<\/strong> search<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In-person community: <strong>12 social events <\/strong>across<strong> 7 cities<\/strong> with <strong>400+ attendees<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>3 field-defining workshops<\/strong>: convening practitioners for personal connection and collective problem identification, including <strong>80+ experts interviewed<\/strong> to craft agendas<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Platforming thought leaders: 30 podcast episodes of <a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/show\/0Alc3dndw5tZhBTGb0H1qH?si=4c5372d86e3e4838\"><strong>The Climate Biotech Podcast<\/strong><\/a><strong>, 7,500+ downloads, <\/strong>Top 25% of podcasts on Buzzsprout, 52% audience growth in 2025<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-connecting-practitioners-to-actionable-knowledge\">Connecting Practitioners to Actionable Knowledge<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Calls to action: published<strong> 22 new problem statements<\/strong> derived from our <strong>Workshop on Biological Methane Removal<\/strong>, co-authored<strong> with 32 experts across 7 countries<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Launched <strong>two new open-access tools<\/strong> to enable impactful biomining research: the <a href=\"https:\/\/homeworld-collective.github.io\/orecast-tea-guide\/\"><strong>Orecast<\/strong><\/a><strong> Techno-Economic Analysis (TEA)<\/strong> tool and the <a href=\"https:\/\/critical-minerals-explorer.vercel.app\/\"><strong>Critical Minerals Explorer<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>More to come:<strong> white papers<\/strong> will be released in the coming months based on workshops across our programs in Critical Minerals, Pollution, and Greenhouse Gas Removal<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-directly-supporting-research\">Directly Supporting Research<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>$1.5M deployed<\/strong> across <strong>12 GHGR research teams<\/strong> in 2025<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All-time Garden Grants: <strong>$2.85M+ distributed, 28 projects, 77 researchers supported<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Providing value for all Garden Grants applicants: <strong>proposals received 250+ expert reviews and 787 inline reviewer comments,<\/strong> with all applicants receiving full, transparent feedback<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-looking-ahead-to-homeworld-phase-2\">Looking Ahead to Homeworld Phase 2<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Homeworld is now entering a \u201cphase two\u201d focused on refining and scaling what we\u2019ve piloted in our first three years. You can expect more community convenings across an increasing number of cities, an ambassador program to empower community leaders, a larger number of problem statements produced more quickly, increasingly focused calls for proposals, and an accelerator program to deepen our grantee support while nucleating productive research communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In our Greenhouse Gas Removal (GHGR) Program, expect a new fieldbuilding cycle focused on methane removal through enhanced natural uptake in caves and mines \u2014 an idea originally proposed by Garden Grants recipients Bob Leung and Sean Bay, which we think needs far more attention.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In our Critical Minerals program, expect a white paper, a series of problem statements, and another round of Garden Grants focused on recovering critical minerals from complex source materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-get-involved\">Get Involved<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\u2019re also fundraising to support Homeworld\u2019s next round of efforts.
